How TodayInfo Checks Opportunity Sources
Our source verification method explains what we check, what is not verified, and how readers can report a changed or misleading vacancy.
The difference between collecting and verifying
A record entering TodayInfo from a public feed has been collected, not necessarily checked individually by a member of the editorial team. An automated collection timestamp means the record was available to the feed at that moment; it does not mean the employer reconfirmed that the position is still open. We distinguish source collection, editorial review, and direct confirmation because each supports a different level of confidence.
Step 1: identify the original publisher
We look for an official employer, university, funder, government service, or established job-board listing. A source URL and source name should remain available to the reader. A vacancy without a usable source is not ready to be recommended as verified. Source links are included so readers can check what was supplied and how the original publisher describes the opportunity.
Step 2: compare essential details
A review should compare the position title, employer or funding organisation, country and location, work arrangement, application route, closing date where supplied, and any stated eligibility requirements. We do not infer an undisclosed salary, invent an application deadline, or assert that a position is remote just because it appeared in a feed aimed at remote workers. Conflicting details require a note or further checking.
Step 3: evaluate the application destination
The safest application route is the employer or opportunity provider’s own official channel. Some legitimate listings use a third-party recruitment platform, but readers should confirm the destination before sharing personal information. A source-listing link is not the same as a verified direct-employer application link; our pages must make that distinction clear.
Step 4: freshness and closing dates
An application deadline in the past is a reason to treat an opportunity as expired unless the official provider says it has been extended. When a deadline is missing, the correct description is “not provided,” not an invented date. We recommend rechecking older imported listings before presenting them as active, and excluding outdated or unverified pages from search results when appropriate.
Step 5: corrections and accountability
If a listing is inaccurate, please send its TodayInfo URL, the detail that appears wrong and a credible supporting source to [email protected]. We can correct the text, update its status, or remove a page from public recommendations. TodayInfo cannot guarantee that a third-party employer will respond, hire, or provide funding.
Public sources represented in our datasets
Recent TodayInfo datasets have included public vacancy information from Workforce Australia, Arbeitnow, PNet and other publicly accessible job feeds. These are source categories, not endorsements or partnerships. Actual attribution appears on each listing. You can consult the official sources at https://www.workforceaustralia.gov.au/, https://www.arbeitnow.com/, and https://www.pnet.co.za/.
